FAQs

What do you mean by 'private tour'?

At Heritage Tours, a private tour means that arrangements are made just for you. You will be driven by private car or minivan. There are no big buses. No waiting for anyone else. No annoying strangers. And no straining to hear what is being said. Travel at your own pace and follow your passions. Your guide will be yours. Not just to recite facts, but to give you an insight into the history and the legends of Peru, its beauty and its way of life. You choose the dates and we make the arrangements. Simple. The arrangements are subject to availability, so we do urge you to book as early as you can.

Will there be others in my group even if there are only two of us?

No. Your private vacation is just that: private. (we do require a minimum of two people). The more of your friends, the merrier.

The lodges and the majority of the accommodations we select for you tend to be small and intimate, most often in renovated historic monuments.

How do I make arrangements?

Simply give us a call at 212 206 8400 or 800 378 4555. Reservations are placed upon receipt of a non-refundable $500 per person deposit and one signed Reservation Application Form per person.

The balance is due 60 days prior to the tour. Just tell us whether you want our hand-picked SELECT hotels or hand-picked DELUXE hotels - Peru's most over-the-top luxurious.

How can I make payment?

Payment is welcome by check, wire or by American Express. The prices quoted reflect a 3% discount for paying by check. If you wish to pay by other means, please add 3% to your total invoice.

What about air transportation?

Most clients prefer to book their own international air on LanPeru, Continental, American or Delta in and out of Lima. Please provide your flight details when booking. We are happy to make your internal flight arrangements for you. Average cost is $125 per person per flight.

What is included on this private tour?

Our hand-selected hotels, of course. Breakfast daily and a few other meals as noted.

All transport and drivers on a private basis (sedans or minivans). Train service to Machu Picchu on the Orient Vistadome or the ultra-luxe Hiram Bingham service. Private sightseeing tours with our excellent guides - yes, the very same guides we use for our museum and VIP clients (you are one of them now). Always at your disposal is our knowledge, expertise and the services of our staff in New York and in Lima.

You are on your own for any incidentals as well as the customary gratuities. A full list of what is included and not included is found at the end of the full itinerary.

What is the difference between the “select” and “deluxe” packages?

Only the items listed: the most luxurious hotels in Peru, the ultra-luxe Hiram Bingham service, and the meals and additional items noted. In both packages, you still have the same excellent guides and drivers, the same content, and the same excellent vehicles.

Can I combine elements of the two packages?

You must choose either the “Select” package or the “Deluxe” package. Both are highly discounted.

Can I change either package?

We can change the days of the week (be aware that the Hiram Bingham service does not operate on Sundays). We can also add content before or after the package of your trip once we have your deposit for the packaged part.

Do I need a visa to travel to Peru?

American passport holders do not need to arrange for a visa in advance. If you are not an American citizen and have questions about visas, please contact the Peruvian embassy at 202 833 9860.

Why is this trip so inexpensive?

Heritage Tours has developed a reputation for the quality of its services and its guides. We always strive to provide excellent value.

In the short time of our Peru soft-launch, we have already established a name for ourselves in Peru.

Working with only the best suppliers in Peru, we have made special arrangements to be able to offer you this incredible PRIVATE tour at a 25% discount.

What else does Peru offer?

The world-renowned archaeologial sites of Sipan and ChanChan, in the north. Picturesque colonial cities such as Trujillo. The pristine landscape of the Colca Canyon. Lake Titicaca. The Amazon. The Nazca Lines.

We can arrange all of these for you upon request. Private guides, private drivers and, if necessary, charter flights.

Should I combine Peru with neighboring countries?

Peru has so much to offer, as do her neighboring countries, we suggest that you do not try to dilute your experience. We suggest you give yourself the time to enjoy where you are. We are happy, if you have the time, to arrange your travel in Bolivia, Ecuador, Galapagos Islands and Chile.

What if I have something else in mind for my Peru trip?

Heritage Tours can arrange a private tour based around your preferences, tastes and budget. Simply contact one of our travel coordinators and they will be pleased to discuss the many experiences possible in South Africa.

We arrange honeymoons, family gatherings, corporate events and Museum tours. Based on your special interests, the highly-qualified staff at Heritage Tours can offer their expertise in arranging a custom-designed experience.

Where else do Heritage Tours clients travel?

Well, there are always the places where we first built our reputation: Spain, Morocco, Turkey and Southern Africa.

And yes, we do them just as well.
